Who we are
Senken (“we”, “us”) is an independent advisory practice, and the data controller for the personal data processed through this website, senken.co. You can reach us about anything in this notice at privacy@senken.co.
This is the privacy notice for the website only. It does not cover the personal data we process in the course of a client engagement, or within SenkenAI; those are dealt with separately.
What we collect
We collect personal data through this website in two ways.
Enquiries. When you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, organisation, and message you provide. These submissions are routed to our enquiry-management system so that we can respond.
Usage data. Our first-party analytics, which we built and run on our own infrastructure, records how the website is used. On every visit it collects the pages you view, how you arrived and moved through the site (referrer, navigation, and any campaign tags in the link you followed), and technical details of your device and browser — such as browser type and language, screen and viewport size, device pixel ratio, and time zone — together with basic page-performance timings. This measurement runs whether or not you accept analytics cookies. If you accept them, a randomly generated identifier is also stored so that we can recognise your browser across visits, in aggregate. We do not use any of this to identify you by name, and our Cookie Policy sets out exactly what is stored in your browser.
We do not knowingly collect special category data through this website, and we ask that you do not include it in an enquiry.
Why we process it, and our lawful basis
We process enquiry data to respond to you and to take steps at your request before any possible engagement. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating the practice and responding to those who contact us and, where relevant, taking steps prior to entering into a contract.
For the analytics, storing and reading information on your device falls within the exemption for low-risk, first-party statistical analytics under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. That is why the measurement does not depend on your consent, while the persistent identifier is set only if you accept it. Where the information collected amounts to personal data, we process it on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website. Because that basis is legitimate interests, you can object to the analytics at any time; the Cookie Policy explains the browser controls available, and you can also contact us.
Who handles it on our behalf
We use a small number of processors, and we do not sell personal data or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Enquiries submitted through the contact form are handled on our behalf by a third-party form and enquiry-management provider, acting as our processor. Some of that processing may take place on infrastructure outside the UK, and where it does, appropriate safeguards — such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum — apply. Website hosting, content delivery, and the analytics service all run on the same major cloud infrastructure provider, which processes that data on our behalf. The analytics is our own rather than a third-party service, and the data it collects is not shared with any third party for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence no longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, in line with our normal business-records retention. Analytics data is retained only as long as it remains useful for understanding the website, and the persistent identifier expires a year after it is set unless it is renewed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law — the UK GDPR as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, together with the Data Protection Act 2018 — you have the right to access your personal data and to its rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and the right not to be subject to decisions made solely by automated means with legal or similarly significant effect. We do not make such decisions through this website. To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@senken.co.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to put things right first.
